Cory will be discussing his exhibition Time/Tone, improvisation with augmented instruments and sharing some of the technical processes used to create his installation.
Toi Pōneke Arts Centre and New Zealand School of Music Te Kōkī warmly invite you to attend a unique performance by Cory Champion to celebrate his exhibition Time/Tone.
Composer and performer Cory Champion works with the recording and amplification of cymbals, drums and drum machines to create fluid soundscapes, exploiting blurred textures between acoustic and synthesised sources. These percussion instruments are also amplified in the gallery space as sculptural works able to be played, continually modulating Champion’s immersive, harmonic soundscapes.
All are invited to attend the closing of Flo Wilson and Olivia Webb’s latest exhibition Attunement. The new works presented in this show were made during their time in the 2017-18 Toi Pōneke Arts Centre and New Zealand School of Music sound art residency. The closing event will feature a live performance by Flo and Olivia.

Flo and Olivia will run two workshops over Monday 22 + 29 January 2018. Each workshop is 2-hours long (starting at 2pm).
