Artists, designers, photographers, makers, and crafters from Toi Pōneke Arts Centre are proud to present Toi Poneke Arts Centre Residents Exhibition 2022. Bringing together this unique arts community to recognize our creative contributions to the Wellington arts scene and celebrate the diversity of practice in our studios. Residents have chosen work that exemplifies their current practice, so come explore a range of media from jewellery to neon lightwork.

Works by Anthea Tucker, Chora Carleton, David H Brown, Gary Peters, Hendrix Hennessy-Ropiha, Jacob Roger Giles, Jane Hyder, Kay McCormick Laura Woodward, Negin Dastgheib, Pam Brabants, Petra Scheuber, Petra Stueben, Rebecca Mooney, Ritchie Adamson, Sally Colahan Griffin and Thorn Richards.

Open Studios on Sunday 2 October offers a chance to meet the artists and see more of their work.

Join us for a sneak peek into Toi Pōneke artist studios!  

Top off your visit to the vibrant Toi Pōneke Residents Exhibition with a special inside look at the artists at work. With two session times and loads of studios to check out, it’s a great chance to kōrero with the artists about their work and gain a deeper understanding of their process.

Intro to Wax Carving for Jewellery

Intro to Wax Carving for Jewellery, with Thorn Richards and  Anthea Tucker

In this fun intro class students will learn to carve and sculpt jeweller's wax used for lost wax cast jewellery.

At the end of the short workshop students will have the option to have their wax pieces cast and transformed into bronze, brass, white bronze or silver!

Casting costs are additional to the class and will be quoted at the end of the workshop. Casts will be ready for pick-up in 1-2 weeks.

Arts Therapy Workshop - Climate Grief

Arts Therapy workshop - Climate Grief, with Negin Dastgheib 

Through art-making participants will explore our connection to the earth and our own natural bodies. The workshop will focus on creating space and holding for our collective grief associated with the current climate situation.

Gallery Floor Talk

6.30pm, Thursday 13 October

Join us for a gallery floor talk with Sally Griffin in the final days of the vibrant Toi Pōneke Residents Exhibition.

Illustrated by Sally’s paintings and public artworks, this talk will dive into her life experiences and context for her ‘imaginative realist’ paintings, the news stories and often controversial nature of her art. Question time included.
