Toi Pōneke is calling for proposals from Wellington-based Artists for our 2023 Visual Arts Residency. This 3-month residency culminates in an exhibition of a new body of work at Toi Pōneke Gallery in October 2023.

The aim of this residency is to support a Wellington-based Visual artist to develop a new body of work and provide the artist with resources to dedicate themselves full time to their practice for a period of 12 weeks.

Eligibility

 Applicants must be:

  • Available only to current Wellington-based New Zealand citizens or permanent residents (applicants must be living in Wellington at the time of applying).

  • Applicants must have had at least one solo exhibition or project in a public or artist run space.

  • Applicants must be able to commit to this residency and spend at least 25 hours per week at the Toi Pōneke studio.

  • A requirement of this residency is to gift an artwork created during the residency to Toi Pōneke

* Wellington City based New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. You must provide evidence that you have lived in Wellington City on a semi-permanent basis over the past 3 years. And you must have a current Wellington City address at the time of application. If you are short listed you will be required to verify this address and your NZ residency status.
